A city unlike
any other in Lanka

Unique in landscape and identity, steeped in complex history both ancient and modern, Jaffna stands apart from every other corner of Sri Lanka. Its two-thousand-year written record saw Sinhalese, South Indian, Portuguese, Dutch and English rulers each leave indelible marks on its streets, temples and people.

Emerging from three decades of civil war with extraordinary resilience, the city has rebuilt a distinctly vibrant identity — a bubbling hotpot of contrasts, much like the spirited Jaffnese themselves.
